Pick / Put to Light with Carousels

Best in class for moderate volume SKU picking

Horizontal Carousels with Pick to Light and Put to Light work within a system of carousel control software that processes orders in batches from the WMS, WCS (or ERP).  Carousels with are excellent for fulfilling small item picking applications where location restocking frequency ranges between 16 and 22 or more days.  Faster restock rates may indicate a larger carousel location or relocating the SKU to Flow Rail.

  • Carousel Pick-to-Light displays the shelf level to pick and is positioned at each shelf level.  A separate customizable message display illuminates at the same time.
  • The shelf display usually indicates Part #, U/I and Quantity to Pick.
  • Sort Bar:  Pick Once, fulfill many orders - batch picking / fulfillment.
  • Once an item is picked from the carousel, that quantity that may be for multiple totes (that represent orders), the Sort Bar display(s) light up and show which one or more orders need that item and the quantity.
  • Horizontal carousels can be laid out in work groups called pods or in combination with flow rack as universal pick pods.  The flow rack would hold the fastest moving or bulky items.  This layout minimizes walking and maximizes lines picked per hour over any other automated storage and retrieval system.  
  • With Pick / Put-to-Light, picking errors are virtually non-existent.
